What are some superstitions about the stone, jade?

I am half Chinese and I know Chinese people love jade and wear it because it is supposed to protect you from harm.

Also, most Chinese women wear a jade bracelet that is permanent on their wrist (what I mean is that they wear it for a long time and never take it off and their wrist gets bigger so it is difficult to take the bracelet off), and if the jade "likes" you then it turns greener and greener.

However if the jade does not "like" you, then it will never turn greener than the shade it is in.

My mum’s jade jewelery have turned greener and greener over the years, she told me that jade doesn’t "like" her younger sister and that is why her younger sister’s jade jewelery always stay the same shade of green and never deeper.

That is what I have heard.

The biggest one is the protection.

According to Chinese lore you wear jade and if you fall the jade breaks and takes the damage instead of you.

There are also these: *Prevents nightmares and eye troubles. *Is a remedy for spleen, kidney, and digestive ailments. *Makes men fertile. *Brings success in games of chance. *Brings rain. *Averts epilepsy. *Cures animal bites. *Jade placed on the eyelids or in the mouth of a dead person brings back their spirit to another life on Earth.

Chinese believe jade to bestow longevity and aid in spiritual healing. Often, jade pendants are worn on the body, to help absorb the "bad" chi thats may want to harm the wearer.

White jade is known to represent purity while green jade is known for their warding against evil.

The versions of the color I heard, regarding the color changes are, that green jade will deepen in color, as the jade absorbs spiritual energy from the surroundings.

However, stories have been told about green jade losing their color, due to using up the said energy to protect the wearer from harm as well.

    Same. Half Chinese here.

Jades, like you say, protects one from harm. If the Jade is broken, it means that either that harm is TOO strong or a misfortune may arise.

Regarding the colour is the stone, the one which I do think is a fact is that when you wear a stone, and it’s compatible with you because it likes you and YOU like it, the colour would change and you’ll see the effects of it.

Perhaps your Aunty isn’t suitable for Jades but other stones. I, personally, have never worn one. I don’t know but I’m not really attracted to it yet but I do have 2. Bought it but never used it. Instead, I used the other stone and I love them a lot because they’ve shown me effects and forewarned me by breaking. Sigh…. Hurts to see it break. >.<

In Chinese superstition, jade bracelets protect their wearers from evil. The color of the jade deepens with the passage of time. It is a gradual change, unnoticeable until one takes a good look at the piece and compares it with memories of a time before. The jade bracelet will darkened in patches with each year that it has been worn. It is as if the purity and strength of jade is being absorbed by your body, while your troubles are being expelled into the bracelet, leaving murky hunter green pools in the translucent jade.
